The Rede pela Educação Infantil (REDIN) was created in February 2003, with support from IDIS and funding from Instituto C&A.
To form the network, IDIS used two strategies – bimonthly meetings with those interested in participating in the network and quarterly seminars to train the participants of the network. During the seminars, the following themes were discussed: Asset-Based Situational Diagnosis; Definition of the Network’s Logical Milestone; Design of the Collective Project; and Definition of the Management of the Network’s Actions.
In defining the focus of the network’s action, the participants:
- Analyzed data from the Municipal Administration and the Municipal Department of Education of Belo Horizonte, to identify the region’s main needs;
- Drew up a situational diagnosis;
- Made field visits to daycare centers in the region; and
- Analyzed the priorities.
At the end of the process, the network adopted as its mission “contribute to ensure access to quality early childhood education through network action”. To carry out this mission, REDIN-BH designed four projects for community and philanthropic organisations, involving the established areas.
REDIN does not execute these projects. Instead, it objective is to link together organizations that can contribute to put its goals and projects into effect in favor of quality Early Childhood Education.
In 2006, with the implementation of its executive office, REDIN-BH is seeks its institutional strengthening.
The project financed by the Instituto C&A involves various activities, such as the installation of its own headquarters and the hiring of a paid manager, as well as several other actions of management, communication and social mobilization.
