On October 3<\/span>rd<\/span> IDIS – Institute for the Development of Social Investment, celebrated 25 years <\/strong><\/span>in an event in S\u00e3o Paulo. The celebration took place at MASP – Museu de Arte de S\u00e3o Paulo Assis Chateaubriand, and was attended by collaborators and former collaborators, as well as many colleagues, partners and friends who are a part of the institute’s history. This was another stage of the campaign <\/span>\u2018Social Investment is about people\u2019<\/b><\/a><\/span>, celebrating not only the many years of IDIS\u2019 history, but also all the people who have helped build and continue to do so with us.<\/span><\/p>\n

The anniversary started with the moving presentation by <\/span>Maestro Jo\u00e3o Carlos Martins<\/b><\/span> for an audience of more than 270 guests. He gifted the public with a performance of <\/span>Playing Love<\/span><\/i>, by Ennio Morricone, followed by a surprise presentation of the brazilian version of \u2018Happy Birthday to you\u2019, both on the piano.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was followed by speeches from <\/span>Luiz Sorge<\/b><\/span>, president of IDIS board, <\/span>Marcos Kisil<\/b><\/span>, IDIS founder, and <\/span>Paula Fabiani<\/b><\/span>, current CEO of IDIS.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cToday we\u2019re here to celebrate IDIS\u2019 25<\/i>th<\/i> anniversary. But more than that, we are here to celebrate each and every one of us. To recognize everything that we have accomplished together and to bring new energies to continue our journey. […] It is about people because there is an empathetic approach. It is about people because it involves dialogue, collaboration, disagreements, consensus, mistakes and success, and it moves us\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/strong>, said Paula during the opening of the event.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Then it came the time to talk about the <\/span>future of private social investment <\/b><\/span>in the country. The philosopher and economist <\/span>Eduardo Giannetti <\/b><\/span>stepped onto the stage to talk about the role of philanthropy in the current scenery. He commented on the complexity of today’s world, which presents us with major global challenges, and highlighted hope as a key mechanism to ensure that young people engage in a better world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think we have to show young people how a life dedicated to others and to relevant causes can be beautiful and can bring an element of motivation\u201d, said Giannetti in his opening speech.\u00a0<\/i><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
