BRAZILIAN PHILANTHROPY FORUM

The Brazilian Philanthropy Forum aims to provide an exclusive space for the philanthropic community to gather, exchange experiences and learn with peers, enriching the strategic philanthropy in order to promote the Brazilian society’s development. The event has already brought together over 1,500 participants, including philanthropists, leaders and national and international experts.

‘Collaboration’ is the theme of the Brazilian Philanthropy Forum 2022.The mobilization stimulated by the pandemic showed the power of collaboration. Government, companies of all sizes and segments, charities and individuals came together. They intensified pre-existing partnerships and created new bridges. Philanthropy became central on national news and society demanded commitment and results. We moved forward, accelerated solutions through connections and challenged the saying ‘Alone you go fast while together you go far’. At the Brazilian Philanthropy Forum 2022 we will show you how it is possible to go ‘fast and together’.

In order to analyse and discuss the philanthropy role in Brazil’s development, great speakers such as Ana Lúcia Villela, Ana Paula Padrão, Carlos Wizard, Eduardo Giannetti, Eduardo Lyra, Guilherme Leal, Gustavo Montezano, Gilberto Carvalho, Jane Wales, Jorge Gerdau Johannpeter, Giovanni Harvey, Lester M. Salamon, Matthew Bishop, Peter Eigen, Rob Garris, Swanee Hunt, Viviane Senna, and many others have attended the Forum.

The Brazilian Philanthropy Forum is a joint initiative of the Institute for the Development of Social Investment (IDIS) and the Global Philanthropy Forum (GPF).

Throughout his more than 30 years in the philanthropic sector, Agustín has designed and implemented strategies to help civil society organizations fulfill their initiatives. Prior to founding LANZA, Agustín served as Vice-President of Development at the University of Monterrey (UDEM) from February 2011 to March 2020. His professional career began at the Instituto Poblano de Readaptación, A. C., (IPODERAC), an organization of which he was Executive Director and a Member of the Council. Agustín has participated, since 1998, in the creation of Community Foundations in Mexico. Currently, he is president of COMUNALIA (Alliance of Community Foundations of Mexico); he was a founding member and first president of Fundación Comunidar in Monterrey and Fundación Comunitaria de Puebla. Ana Buchain

She is an Associate Consultant at IDIS and a member of the Management Committee of the Movement for a Culture of Donation, Journalist, also trained in the area of ​​Systems Analysis and Specialization in Economics, she had experience writing in vehicles such as O Estado de S.Paulo, SBT and CBS News (USA). Managed the Information and Research Center at Gazeta Mercantil. He was Executive Director of Amnesty International in Brazil and is part of the Board of Directors of GIFE (Group of Institutes, Foundations and Companies).

Atti Worku

Atti is a leader and advocate with over 10 years of experience as a nonprofit CEO. Throughout her career, Atti experienced the biased and unjust challenges of raising philanthropic dollars in the U.S. for a locally-led, community-centered African organization. As the AVFund’s Africa-based Co-CEO, she is focused on supporting the personal and organizational growth of African visionaries and their innovative impact ideas. Prior to joining the AVFund, Atti founded and led Seeds of Africa, a nonprofit developing the educational foundation for the next generation of Ethiopia’s leaders. Atti writes about power dynamics and racial Injustice in philanthropy, and her essay on girls education as a global climate change solution was published in the book Why Women Will Save the Planet. She was named one of the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) class of 2019, and is a Women’s Forum Rising Talents Initiative 2020 nominee. Atti won Miss Ethiopia in 2005, and graduated Cum Laude with a BA in Sustainable Development from Columbia University.

Benjamin Bellegy

Executive Director at WINGS

He is the Executive Director at WINGS. He has previously led international programmes in fields such as civil societies’ strengthening, sustainable development or post-disaster reconstruction. He has managed international programs at Fondation de France, worked for the International Cooperation Agency of Monaco and for several NGOs in Ethiopia, Tunisia and Canada.

Camila Carvalho

Head of Partnership Development and of Philanthropy at UNICEF

She works with UNICEF leadership, the board, companies and foundations strategic teams, major donors, program champions and staff to build continuous programmatic response for the most vulnerable children and adolescents in Brazil and even worldwide.

Carlos Pignatari

Head of Social Impact at Ambev

He is at the forefront of all the Company’s positive impact projects, including the VOA program, a volunteer management mentoring for company’s social organizations and AMA, the first social business in Brazil in a large company registered in partnership with Yunus Social Business. In the company since 2013 the beginning of the operation, he also worked in as performance manager and transformation manager for Latin America. He holds a degree in Public Administration from FGV-SP with an emphasis on international and environmental policy.

CAROLA M. B. MATARAZZO

CEO of Movimento Bem Maior

Graduated in Business Administration at Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado, Carola got involved in social causes as a volunteer at Liga Solidária, in 2000. Since then, she held different positions in the organisation until reaching the Presidency, where she served from 2012 to 2018, leaving to lead the creation of Movimento Bem Maior. In 2020, she received the “Social Entrepreneur of the Year” award, promoted by Folha de São Paulo and the Schwab Foundation in the “Covid-19 Mitigation” category. Carola is a member of the Strategic Councils of Liga Solidária, Artesol, Instituto Protea and Instituto iungo. She is also a civil society representative at São Paulo’s State Fund to Combat and Eradicate Poverty.

Celso Athayde

Christiane Torloni

Actress and environmental activist

Christiane Torloni is an actress and cultural producer with over 46 years of career. She acted in 16 plays, 27 soap operas and 16 films. As a political activist, she participated in “Diretas Já” and, as an environmentalist, she led the “Amazônia para Sempre” movement, which collected more than one million signatures against the devastation of the Amazon Rainforest. In addition to theatrical shows, she produced the feature-length documentary “Amazônia, o Despertar da Florestania”, of which she was also director together with Miguel Przwodowski. He is currently a member of the Board of FAS – Fundação Amazônia Sustentável.

Daniela Garcia

Journalist with over 25 years of experience, she has worked with brand strategy and positioning and as a Business Designer for Micro and Small Entrepreneurs. Enthusiastic about the third sector and social impact businesses, she articulates partnerships with the corporate world. At Instituto Capitalismo Consciente Brasil, she climbed the ladder as Communications Coordinator, Director of Operations and is currently the organization’s CEO.

Daniela Grelin

Director of Avon Institute

Daniela Grelin leads the Avon Institute in its initiatives to combat violence against women and to fight breast cancer in Brazil. It promotes awareness and engagement of different interest groups in society to transform attitudes and behaviors, empowering topics for public debate, promoting the rescue of victims of isolation. She is a columnist for Exame magazine, writing on topics related to gender equity and women’s rights.

Denise Carvalho

Senior Manager of Monitoring and Evaluation at IDIS

Graduated in International Relations from the University of Brasília (UnB), she has more than 20 years of experience in the design, management, monitoring and evaluation of social and business development projects. She has worked in International Organizations (United Nations in Brazil and Equatorial Guinea), private companies (PwC and Polaris Participações) and in the Third Sector (FNP, Caritas Switzerland, Instituto Votorantim, Fundação Abrinq). Denise also has a postgraduate degree in Evaluation of Results and Impacts of Public Organizations and Programs, from the Universidad del Litoral (Argentina) and a Master’s in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, from BI International, and specializations in the country and abroad. Currently, she is a student of the Master in Assessment at the Universität des Saarlandes (Germany).

Eliane Trindade

Editor of the Social Entrepreneur Award of Folha de S.Paulo

Editor of the Social Entrepreneur Award of Folha de S.Paulo. Graduated in Social Communication from the University of Brasília in 1990, she did a postgraduate degree in Political Science at the University of Pisa (Italy) in 1993. e worked for the magazines IstoÉ, Época, Marie Claire, IstoÉ Gente and Revista da Folha. She is currently the editor of the Social Entrepreneur Award, a partnership between Folha de S.Paulo and the Schwab Foundation, and also the head of the ‘Rede Social’ column. In 2002, she won the Ayrton Senna Journalism award with the report ‘What they will be when they grow up’. In 2005, she released the book-report ‘As Meninas da Esquina’ (Ed. Record), which brought together the diaries of six girls who were victims of sexual exploitation in Brazil. The book inspired the movie ‘Sonho Roubados’ (09), with the actress Nanda Costa and directed by Sandra Werneck.

Emanuelle Moraes

Emanuelle has worked for 19 years with management of non-governmental organizations and private social investment projects. She has worked at Instituto Brasileiro de Gestão Socioambiental (Fundacim) and Federação das Indústrias do Estado do Paraná (FIEP), in which she coordinated the Conselho de Cidadania Empresarial da Região Noroeste do Paraná. Emanuelle has worked at Instituto Sicoob since 2012, leading the operation in three main pillars: Financial Citizenship; Cooperativism and Entrepreneurship; and Sustainable Development.

 

Erika Sanchez Saez

Executive director of Instituto ACP

She  is the executive director of Instituto ACP, researcher, author of the book Collaborative Philanthropy, organizer of the book Horizons and Priorities for Philanthropy and Social Investment in Brazil and member of the coordinating committee of the Movement for a Culture of Giving.She has a degree in Social Communication from ESPM, a postgraduate degree in Globalization and World Governance and Systems from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and a Master’s degree in Cooperation, Globalization and Development from the University of Barcelona. 

Fabio Lesbaupin

CEO of Estímulo 2020

With over 20 years of experience working in large and multinational companies, in areas such as strategic consulting, logistics, finance and technology, Fabio Lesbaupin is co-founder and CEO of Estímulo. With a degree in Production Engineering from USP, he took an MBA in Administration at FGV (where he is an invited professor), and specialized in innovative projects using technology, working for more than 10 years in this area.

Felipe Groba

Project Manager at IDIS

Felipe Insunza Groba serves as project manager at IDIS. Previously, he was responsible for institutional relations and fundraising with large donors at the Estudar Foundation, and at Anfavea, where he was chief economist and foreign trade manager. He holds a master’s degree in Applied Economics and Public Policy Assessment from the Universidad del País Vasco (UPV / EHU) and a postgraduate degree in Philanthropic Studies at the University of Kent, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of São Paulo (FEA-USP).

Fernanda Bombardi

Executive Manager of ICE – Instituto de Cidadania Empresarial

She is a member of the Board of ANDE – Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs in Brazil and a member of the Board of Projeto Casulo, as well as Executive Manager of ICE – Instituto de Cidadania Empresarial and is a manager of Coalizão pelo Impacto, an initiative that aims to strengthen the field of investments and impact businesses in the five regions of Brazil, in six cities. She was also a fellow of the MIT D-Lab Innovation Ecosystem Builder Fellowship. With an MBA in Social and Environmental Business Management from CEATS-USP, she is a psychologist graduated from PUC-SP and a specialist in Local Development from the ILO – International Labor Organization. Fernanda dedicated almost eight years to community development projects, having implemented an income generation program in the Amazon.

Flavia Rosso

Social Impact Manager at iFood

She is the Social Impact Manager at iFood, responsible for fundraising donations via the app with a focus on strengthening the 3rd sector in Brazil. She is also leader of the Fight Against Hunger front at iFood, with initiatives to combat waste and create urban gardens. Graduated in Psychology at USP in São Paulo and MBA student in Sustainable Development and Circular Economy at PUC-RS.

Georgia Pessoa

Executive Director of humanize

She is a lawyer by training with a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management. Prior to joining Humanize, she was head of the environmental area of the Roberto Marinho Foundation, and before that the country director for Rare-Brazil. She has over 20 years of experience in the development arena, serving different organizations in various capacities, including the Brazil office of the Latin America Regional Climate Initiative (LARCI/iCS), the Moore Foundation, the Brazil Biodiversity Fund (Funbio), and World Wildlife Fund-Brazil (WWF-Brazil). She is very well connected in the philanthropic community and has an relevant network of top-level professionals at the Brazilian government, the private sector, academia and NGOs.

Giovanni Harvey

Executive Director of Fundo Baobá para a Equidade Racial (Fundo Baobá for Racial Equality)

He has 30 years of experience as an executive in the private sector, public administration and third sector. From 1988 to 1989 was the president of Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) Students Central Directory; business owner in the insurance and private pension sector from 1994 to 2004; founded the NGO Incubadora Afrobrasileira in 2004 and; worked, in 2007, as a consultant at the Incubators Program in the Ministry of Economics of Cape Verde. Furthermore, Giovanni was in office in the three levels of Public Administration in different areas such as Human Rights, Work, Science and Technology, Social Assistance, Governance and Racial Equality, including the positions of Affirmative Actions Policies National Secretary (from 2008 to 2009) and Executive Secretary at Presidency of the Republic Secretariat of Policies for Racial Equality Promotion (SEPPIR/PR) (from 2013 to 2015).

Gregório Araújo

Manager of Reforestation and Environmental Projects at the Executive Management of Social Responsibility

He holds a PhD in Economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He has worked in different occupational functions at Petrobras, integrated intelligence studies, elaborated and monitoring of deadlines or corporate scenarios of companies, as well as projected as macroeconomic and energy. He is currently Manager of Reforestation and Environmental Projects at the Executive Management of Social Responsibility, responsible for managing projects in the scenario and forests line of the Petrobras Socio-environmental Program. He also works as a senior researcher at the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI).

Guibson Trindade Torres

Pact for the Promotion of Racial Equity

From the State of Pernambuco, he is a communicologist specializing in Public Relations, has an MBA in People Management, with expertise in the elaboration, articulation and mobilization of actions, as well as in carrying out community assistance projects, with education, health and racial experience. He worked as Public and Institutional Relations in companies in the Governmental segment, philanthropic institutions and third sector organizations and is currently the Executive Manager of the Pact for the Promotion of Racial Equity.

Gustavo Bernardino

With a bachelor degree in International Relations and master in Management and Public Policy, he has more than 10 years of professional experience in the public sector, NGOs and philanthropy. He is currently program manager at GIFE – Grupo de Institutos, Fundações e Empresas.

Henry holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from Aix-en-Provence University, with a Graduate Degree in Business Management from Fundação Dom Cabral. He has a Master’s in Financial Law from Paris 1 Pantheon Sorbonne University and a Master’s in Management & Finance from HEC Paris School of Management. He started his career at Société Générale Bank as Structured Products Specialist in 2008, and later as Institutional Sales. Leonardo Letelier

He is CEO and founder of SITAWI Finance for Good and has 20+ years of experience in business, finance, and social impact. Prior to thar, he worked at McKinsey for 8 years. He was elected Senior Fellow at Synergos, Responsible Leader by BMW Foundation and Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2021 in Brazil by Schwab Foundation. To date, SITAWI has mobilized R$300+ million for impact. Leonardo earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and an Industrial Engineering degree from University of São Paulo. He is married to Lucimara and father to Clara.

Louize Oliveira

Louize has worked for more than 10 years in the financial market, specifically in a credit union, working in the areas of credit and risk, legal and recovery, strategic projects, innovation, and private social investment.
