Vertentes

Challenge

Brazil ranks the fourth lowest global position in terms of mental health, according to the latest edition of The Mental State of the World. Globally, nearly one billion people live with some form of mental disorder.

Vertentes, a collective focused on promoting, preventing and supporting mental health in Brazil, sought support from IDIS to structure a philanthropic fund that would accelerate its activities and strengthen its fundraising strategy.

The project was structured in three phases.

Solution and Results

IDIS was responsible for defining the main guidelines for the Philanthropic Fund, including its purpose, structure and governance. Following that, the team developed the key documents required for managing and operating the fund.

In the third phase, the official launch of the Vertentes Fund featured IDIS, which led a presentation highlighting the advantages and characteristics of this important financial mechanism.

The Vertentes Fund was created based on the model proposed by IDIS, with the active participation of the leaders of the movement. Its creation, with professional and independent management, enables receiving donations and sponsorships for the movement, aiming to finance initiatives in three fronts of action:

  • Knowledge – production, systematization and dissemination of knowledge
  • Advocacy – raising awareness and influencing public policy
  • Resilient Communities – articulation, engagement and financing to strengthen resilient communities.

About the Organization

Vertentes is an intersectoral movement that brings together national and international key players for systemic transformations in Mental Health for Sustainable Development, working on three fronts: Knowledge, Advocacy and Resilient Communities.

By 2030, our focus will be on young people, fostering their protagonism in favor of the mental health and well-being of children, adolescents and youth.
